SÃO PAULO – Bruno Senna will make a brief comeback to Brazilian Stock Car Series later this month at Goiânia circuit. The WEC ace has accepted a call from Cavaleiro Sports to pair with 2015 champion Marcos Gomes in a Chevrolet Cruze against a brigade of a brand new Toyota Corolla in the Guest Race. The opening round of a 12-race calendar is scheduled for March 29th and is expected to attract a 26 car-field.
Senna, who lies currently third in the LMP1 standings along with his fellows Gustavo Menezes and Norman Nato, has already some experience in the main Brazilian motor racing series. He débuted in the final race of 2013 at Interlagos and two years after was at the very same Goiânia track to join Mico’s Racing and x-F1 driver Antonio Pizzonia in the Guest Race. Since then, he’s been unable to take several invitations due to a clash with his activities in Europe.
“I have been taking a look at the Guest Race for quite a while, but there always been something to prevent me from coming to Brazil”, Senna explained. Before reaching an agreement with Cavaleiro Sports, Senna considered some other possibilities. “I choose Cavaleiro Sports because they seem to have growed a lot recently and also due to the company of Gomes, one of the best drivers out there”, completed.
Even though the details of the race remain nuclear, it has been speculated that this time the race will be splitted in two heats, one for the regular drivers and the other for the guests. Antonio Felix da Costa, Filipe Albuquerque and Laurens Vanthoor are other top drivers in the provisional entry list.
